Chameleon Card

Cost: $250

Features

FPGA
The central feature of the Chameleon Card is the Altera 6016 FPGA. This FPGA contains enough logic to interface between a pair of distinctly different systems, performing such duties as:
                    - serial to parallel conversion
                    - bus buffering / real world bus interface
                    - FIFO in or out
                    - serial to serial data rate buffer

Or you can use the Chameleon as a stand alone FPGA prototyping card.

I/O
There is nothing but flexibility for I/O connection on this board! Each side of the card has a 2x25 header with every other pin grounded for clean cabling to your system. All the I/O can be jumpered in or out, or wire wrapped to local functions in any way you like.

Options
Use the DIP switches to dial in configuration options for your application. Switches select built in features, like:
                - clock divider
                - serial interface type
                - bus type / parallel bus width

Or you can select features you put in.

Use the push button switches for momentary event triggering.

Local Power
The on board power supply frees you from worrying about powering the card. A wall brick (supplied with the card) provides enough power to run the Chameleon plus a little for add-on logic if you need it.

Downloadable
Run the Chameleon from its own boot PROM or download it with your Altera development system. One jumper lets you choose.

Test point / spare I/O
There are plenty of test points available for monitoring internal functions of the FPGA.

Or you can use the spare pins for small piggy back cards, such as RS-232 buffers or differential transmitters/receivers.
